1. Is training on the use of the NIDS dataset available?

Yes. The UCT Summer Training Programme “Social Science Research Using Survey Data” has historically introduced participants to Stata use, addressing substantive social science research questions, primarily using a cross-section of NIDS (while also training participants to be comfortable in the use of other survey data).

SALDRU and DataFirst offer a course which introduces students to the techniques used in the analysis of “cross-sectional” panel data sets, such as the National Income Dynamics Study (NIDS). The SALDRU and DataFirst websites are routinely updated with information regarding training courses.
